How long can a 3 month old puppy be left alone?

The age plus one formula gives a ceiling for how long the bladder can physically hold, not how long the puppy is happy being alone. A puppy that has had little practice may become distressed well before 2 hours, even if the bladder itself could technically wait longer.

Around 12 to 14 weeks, many puppies go through a period where they seem more clingy or more vocal about being left, which is a normal developmental stage rather than a sign that training has failed. Keeping sessions short and predictable through this stretch, rather than pushing for longer absences, tends to pay off within a few weeks.
