What bowl is best for a dog with long ears?

The key feature is a base wider than the top opening, so the bowl curves inward as it rises. Ears that would normally fall straight down into food instead land on the outer rim, since they physically cannot fit through the narrower mouth. This shape is sometimes labeled an ear guard bowl or spaniel bowl, and it works the same way whether the dog is eating kibble or drinking water.

A cocker spaniel with moderate ear length usually does well with a mouth opening around 9 to 10 cm, while a bloodhound or basset hound with much longer, heavier ears needs a taller bowl, closer to 15 to 18 cm, and a mouth narrowed to roughly 7 to 8 cm to keep the leather flaps fully clear.
