Boxer grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Boxer: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
The Boxer coat is one of the easiest to keep: a rubber curry mitt once or twice a week lifts dead hair and spreads skin oils. Shedding is steady but light, with a modest increase in spring. Bathing every two to three months is usually plenty unless your dog has rolled in something.
The work is in the details. Wipe the fold above the nose with a damp cloth a few times a week, check the ears weekly for smell or redness, and trim nails every three to four weeks, since Boxers are often reluctant about having their feet handled. White Boxers and those with large white areas can sunburn on the nose and belly, so shade matters on bright days.
