A 20 kg female doing moderate exercise sits near the lower end, while a 35 kg male working cattle all day may need more than the top figure. Split food into two meals and aim for a lean, athletic outline with a visible waist.
Some Catahoulas eat fast and guard their bowl, especially in homes with several dogs. Feed dogs apart, use a slow feeder for a gulper, and practice swap games from puppyhood. Keep fresh water available during and after work, particularly in hot weather, and leave an hour between a big meal and hard exercise.
