How much exercise does a Catahoula Leopard Dog need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Catahoula Leopard Dog enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Budget 90 minutes to 2 hours of activity a day for an adult, mixing running, hiking, herding, agility or scent tracking. Mental work matters as much as physical effort, so training sessions, puzzle feeders and problem-solving games belong in every day. A Catahoula with a job, even a made-up one such as fetching named toys, is a far calmer dog at home.
An under-exercised Catahoula quickly becomes destructive, noisy or skilled at escaping, and some grow reactive toward passing dogs. Their heat tolerance is good, but watch for heavy panting and lagging on hot days, sore pads after rough terrain, and stiffness in older dogs after a long outing.
