Norfolk Terrier grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Norfolk Terrier: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
The wiry coat stays harsh and bright when it is hand-stripped, meaning the dead outer hairs are pulled out by hand or with a stripping knife. Many owners have this done two to four times a year, or keep the coat rolling by stripping a little every few weeks. Clipping is quicker but tends to soften the texture and dull the color over time. Brush once a week to remove loose hair and debris.
Bathe only when needed, since frequent washing softens the coat. Trim nails every three to four weeks, check inside the folded ears weekly for dirt or smell, and brush teeth several times a week.
