Alaskan Klee Kai feeding guide: how much and how often

Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Alaskan Klee Kai.

Klee Kai are small but active, and their needs vary with size and lifestyle. A 7 kg (15 lb) standard with about an hour of daily exercise usually needs around 90 to 120 g of a typical dry food, roughly 1 to 1.25 cups, split into two meals. Toys need noticeably less.

Some Klee Kai are picky eaters, while others will eat anything. Avoid free feeding, measure meals by weight and use part of the ration for training rewards and puzzle toys to keep the mind busy. The double coat hides weight changes, so feel for ribs regularly.

A heavy, non-tip bowl helps with playful dogs, and fresh water should always be available, particularly during warm weather when this cold-adapted breed can struggle.
