Training an Alaskan Klee Kai: what works and what to expect

Klee Kai are sharp and quick to learn, and most are easier to train than a typical Siberian Husky. Positive methods, sessions of five to ten minutes and high-value treats work best. Repetition bores them, and a bored Klee Kai simply wanders off to find something better to do, so keep the pace brisk and end while the dog is still keen.

Confidence is the main project. Teach your dog to accept handling by strangers, such as vets and groomers, through slow exposure and generous rewards, and practice the sound of the doorbell and visitors arriving. Then work on recall, loose-lead walking and a quiet cue for the famous husky vocals, which range from yodels to something close to talking.
