Norwich Terrier feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Norwich Terrier.
Weight creeps on easily in this breed. A 5.5 kg adult typically needs about 70 to 100 g of dry food daily, roughly 0.75 to 1 cup, split into two meals. Weigh your dog monthly on the bathroom scale while holding it: an extra 500 g on a 5 kg dog equals about 10 percent of its body weight, which is a lot for small joints and airways to carry.
Use part of the daily ration for training rewards and food puzzles, which also satisfies the terrier's urge to hunt for its dinner. A small kibble suits the small mouth. If your Norwich starts snoring much more loudly, struggles for breath during exercise or makes gagging noises while eating, have a vet check it.
