English Foxhound grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the English Foxhound: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Grooming is the easy part. A weekly session with a hound glove or rubber curry brush removes loose hair and mud and keeps the coat glossy. Shedding is moderate and constant. Baths are needed only when your hound has rolled in something, which scent hounds do with real enthusiasm.
Check ears weekly, since the dropped ears trap moisture and seeds after runs through long grass. Trim nails every 3 to 4 weeks if they are not worn down naturally, and look over feet and legs after country walks for cuts, thorns and ticks.
