French Bulldog grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the French Bulldog: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
The coat itself is easy. A rubber mitt or soft bristle brush once or twice a week lifts loose hair, and shedding picks up for a few weeks in spring and autumn. A bath every 6 to 8 weeks with a mild dog shampoo is plenty, since frequent washing dries out the skin.
The real grooming work happens in the creases. Wipe the fold above the nose every few days with a soft damp cloth and dry it thoroughly, because trapped moisture turns red and smelly fast. Check the tail pocket if your dog has one, clean the wide ear openings weekly and trim nails every 3 to 4 weeks, as few Frenchies wear them down on their own.
