How much exercise does a Harrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Harrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Stamina is the Harrier's working inheritance. Most need at least 60 to 90 minutes of daily exercise and will happily take more, excelling at running, hiking, canicross, tracking and scent work. A slow sniffing walk on a long line satisfies the nose as much as a fast run satisfies the legs, and many Harriers enjoy mantrailing, where they follow the scent of a hidden person.
Off-lead exercise should happen only in secure areas, because a Harrier on a fresh scent can cover a remarkable distance and ignore every call. Signs of too little activity include howling, digging and destructive behavior at home. Overdoing it is rare but possible on long runs, so check pads after rough ground.
