How much exercise does a Kooikerhondje need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Kooikerhondje enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
An adult Kooiker needs about an hour of activity a day, ideally including off-lead running in a safe space and some brain work. Retrieving games, agility, flyball, scent work and tracking all suit the breed, and many love to swim.
Birds are the obvious temptation. A Kooiker that spots ducks on a pond may decide to go and work, so practice recall near water with a long line before trusting it. Overexcited barking or spinning during play can signal a dog that needs calmer activities, such as sniffing walks, as well as action.
