Papillon feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Papillon.
A 3.5 kg adult with moderate activity needs roughly 230 to 300 kcal a day, often 60 to 80 g of dry food (about two thirds to three quarters of a cup). Because Papillons train so readily, treats can quickly pile up. The easiest fix is to use part of each day's kibble as training rewards and subtract any extras from the bowl.
Small kibble suits the narrow jaw, and two meals a day works well for adults. Puppies under about four months do better with three or four small meals. Some Papillons are picky and learn that refusing food brings tastier options, so offer the meal for 15 minutes, then remove it until the next scheduled time rather than switching foods daily.
The long ear fringes can dip into food and water, so a small, shallow bowl on a non-slip base keeps things tidier.

Puppy portions need measured weight, growth stage and the food’s energy content. A breed-average curve is not a feeding plan. Calculate with measured inputs and review the result with your vet.
