Papillons grow quickly and reach adult size by about nine to ten months. Ears on the upright type usually rise between eight and sixteen weeks, but they may flop up and down while adult teeth come through. Wait until teething ends around six months before worrying.
Puppy bones are slender, and toy breeds are known for fractured forelegs after jumps from sofas, beds or arms. Use ramps or steps, teach a puppy to wait to be lifted down and hold it securely against your body. Watch for limping or a puppy that refuses to put weight on a leg, and get it seen the same day.
