How much exercise does a Bouvier des Flandres need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Bouvier des Flandres enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Around 60 minutes a day suits most adults, ideally mixing walks, play and some kind of job. Bouviers take well to herding instinct tests, tracking, obedience, carting and protection sports, and they are happiest with regular tasks to think about. They are not hyperactive, but they grow bored and pushy without purpose.
The heavy coat makes hot days hard, so move exercise to cooler hours in summer and carry water. An under-exercised Bouvier may become restless, demanding or destructive, while too much shows up as lagging behind or stiffness the next day. If your dog becomes weak, collapses or keeps panting heavily in shade, contact a vet.
