How much exercise does a Spinone Italiano need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Spinone Italiano enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
An adult Spinone usually needs about 60 to 90 minutes of exercise a day. They love long, sniffing walks, swimming, retrieve games and field work. They are not natural sprinters and prefer a steady pace, which makes them fine hiking companions rather than jogging partners.
Heat is the main limit for this dense-coated, large breed. On warm days, exercise early and late, stay in shade and carry water. Heavy panting, slowing right down or lying down on the walk are signs to stop and cool off. An under-exercised Spinone becomes bored and may chew or raid the kitchen counter, although it is usually less demanding than the faster gundog breeds.
