How much exercise does a Giant Schnauzer need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Giant Schnauzer enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Expect to provide 90 minutes or more of activity a day, including both physical and mental work. Giants thrive in obedience, tracking, protection sports, agility (once mature), canicross and nosework. A long walk on its own is rarely enough; they need problems to solve.
Signs of under-exercise include restlessness, barking, destructive chewing and pushy behavior around the house. Build fitness gradually, especially in warm weather, and watch black dogs closely in sun, as they absorb heat quickly. If your dog shows weakness, collapse or heavy panting that does not settle with rest, contact a vet.
