How much exercise does a Dogo Argentino need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Dogo Argentino enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Adults need around 90 minutes of exercise a day, and many want more. Dogos enjoy running beside a bike or in a canicross harness once fully grown, scent work, tracking, weight pull and long hikes. Flirt-pole games, where the dog chases a lure tied to a rope, satisfy the chase drive safely and give a solid workout in 10 minutes.
Because of prey drive and dog selectivity, off-leash exercise belongs only in secure, private areas. A bored Dogo can become destructive or start guarding the house too seriously. Heat is a real risk despite the breed's Argentine roots, since heavily muscled dogs overheat quickly: rest in shade as soon as panting becomes loud and heavy, and get to a vet for collapse, vomiting or a very dark red tongue.
