German Pinscher grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the German Pinscher: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
The coat is about as simple as dog coats get. A weekly rub with a rubber mitt or hound glove removes dead hair and brings up a shine, and shedding is light all year with a small increase in spring. Baths are rarely needed; a damp cloth handles most dirt.
Nails grow fast on active dogs but may also wear down on pavement. Check them every two weeks and trim when you hear clicking on hard floors. Natural drop ears should be checked weekly for dirt and odor. Brush teeth several times a week, and look over the thin skin on the legs for small cuts after running through undergrowth.
