Ibizan Hound grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Ibizan Hound: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Smooth coats need only a weekly brush with a rubber mitt to remove dead hair. Wire coats need a slightly firmer brush and occasional hand-stripping to keep the coat tidy. Both types shed lightly and have little doggy odor. Bathing every couple of months is usually enough.
Their large ears are easy to check and clean, but they can get sunburned or scratched, so look at them regularly. Trim nails every 3 to 4 weeks. Their thin skin and low body fat mean they may need a coat or sweater in cold weather.
