Puppies grow quickly and reach most of their height by about 12 months, then add muscle until roughly 18 months. Growth is long and leggy, and puppies can look almost comically out of proportion around 5 to 8 months.
Since most pet Greyhounds are adopted as adults, the growth stage mostly concerns people buying from show or pet breeders. The usual rules apply: feed a large-breed puppy food, keep the youngster lean, and avoid repetitive high-impact exercise until growth plates close. A puppy that limps for more than a day or cries when a leg is touched should see a vet.
