Smooth Fox Terrier puppies are small and mature quickly in body, usually reaching adult height at around 9 to 10 months and filling out by 12 months. At 8 weeks many weigh about 1.5 to 2.5 kg.
Mentally they stay puppyish much longer, often until 2 years. The teenage phase between roughly 6 and 12 months can be testing: selective hearing, fence testing and boundary pushing are common. Keep lessons short and fun, supply plenty of safe chews, and avoid letting the puppy practice chasing bikes, cars or cats, since each chase makes the next more likely.
