Manchester puppies grow quickly and reach adult size early, usually by 9 to 12 months, with a standard puppy often weighing 3 to 4.5 kg at 4 months. Mental maturity comes a little later, and the terrier teenage phase, roughly 6 to 14 months, brings selective hearing and a burst of confidence.
Puppies are fine-boned and agile, so the main growth risks are injuries from falls and leaps. Teach them to use steps or be lifted down from high furniture. Any limp on a hind leg should be seen by a vet, because Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease occurs in the breed and is easier to manage when caught early.
