How much exercise does an Airedale Terrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities an Airedale Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Expect to provide 60 to 90 minutes of exercise each day, mixing walking, running and brain work. Airedales enjoy swimming, fetch, tracking and tug, and many do well at obedience, agility and working trials once they see the point. Fully grown, they make tough hiking partners.
A bored Airedale digs up the lawn, chews furniture and invents games such as stealing socks to start a chase. Mental exercise matters as much as distance: a 15-minute tracking session or a puzzle feeder can settle the dog better than another lap of the park. Recall around squirrels, cats or livestock needs plenty of work, so keep a long line on until it is reliable.
