How fast an Airedale Terrier puppy grows, illustrative weight estimates and the limits of predicting adult size.
Airedale puppies are born mostly black, and the tan spreads as they grow while the black shrinks back to a saddle over the first year or so. Most reach adult height by about 12 months but take until 18 months or later to fill out through the chest and muscles. At 6 months a male often weighs somewhere around 15 to 18 kg.
Growth is steady rather than explosive, but these are big, bouncy youngsters. Avoid long runs on hard ground and repeated jumping until at least 12 months, feed a large breed puppy food, and keep a visible waist. Have a vet examine any puppy that is lame for more than a day or two, stands awkwardly, or is reluctant to move after rest.
