How much exercise does a Weimaraner need?

Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Weimaraner enjoys and signs of too much or too little.

Aim for 90 to 120 minutes a day for an adult, with at least half of it as free running or structured work. Weims shine at canicross, bikejoring once fully grown, tracking, gundog training and long hill walks. A short loop around the block does not come close; they need to stretch out at speed and use their nose.

Recall must be solid before any of that, because the prey drive is real and a Weimaraner at full gallop covers 100 m in a few seconds. Use a long line in open areas until you trust the recall. An under-exercised Weim paces, whines, raids bins and invents its own jobs. Over-exercise is rarer but shows as sore pads, stiffness after rest or heat exhaustion, and the thin coat offers little protection in strong sun or cold rain.
