How much exercise does an American Eskimo Dog need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities an American Eskimo Dog enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Circus blood shows in how much Eskies enjoy learning. Standards need roughly 60 minutes of activity a day and toys and miniatures around 30 to 45 minutes, but all three need mental work too. Trick training, agility, rally and canine freestyle all suit the breed, and ten minutes of learning a new trick can tire an Eskie as effectively as an extra walk.
An Eskie short on activity will usually tell you through barking, chewing or digging. Hot days are hard on that thick coat, so walk in the cooler hours and keep sessions short in summer. Snow is a different matter: most Eskies love it and would happily stay out far longer than you.
