How much exercise does a Vizsla need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Vizsla enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Plan on 90 minutes a day as a minimum for an adult, and two hours is closer to what many need. At least half an hour of that should be off-lead running or structured work: canicross, cycling alongside once fully grown, swimming, retrieving or scent trails. A lead walk around the block does not come close to satisfying this breed.
An under-exercised Vizsla lets you know quickly through pacing, whining, chewing and an inability to settle in the evening. Overdoing it is rarer, but young dogs will run past exhaustion if nobody stops them, so build distance gradually and carry water. In winter a fitted coat helps a lot, because there is no undercoat to hold warmth once the dog stops moving.
