Anatolian Shepherd grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Anatolian Shepherd: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Most of the year, an Anatolian needs little more than a weekly brush with a slicker or bristle brush to remove loose hair and keep the coat healthy. Coat length varies from short to rough, and dogs with thicker coats may need an undercoat rake behind the ears and on the back legs.
Once or twice a year the undercoat sheds heavily over two or three weeks, and daily raking during that time keeps it under control. Baths are rarely needed. Trim nails every three to four weeks unless the dog wears them down naturally, check ears after hot, dusty weather, and get your puppy comfortable with all of this long before it weighs 50 kg.

Coat
Short to rough double coat, about 2.5 to 10 cm long, thicker at the neck and shoulders, with a dense undercoat that thins noticeably in warm weather.
