How much exercise does a Black Russian Terrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Black Russian Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Adults need about 60 minutes of exercise daily: long walks, free time in a fenced area and training sessions. Black Russians enjoy obedience, tracking, carting and other activities where they work alongside their person. They are rarely hyperactive, but they do need both physical and mental outlets to stay settled.
Dense black coats soak up sunshine, so exercise early and late in warm weather and always provide shade. A dog that is under-stimulated tends to pace, chew and become more territorial, barking at the fence. Overexertion, especially in young or overheated dogs, shows as heavy panting, lagging behind and stiffness the next day.
