Bull Terrier grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Bull Terrier: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
This is one of the easier coats to keep. A weekly rub with a rubber curry mitt removes loose hair and spreads natural oils, and a bath every couple of months, or after a muddy walk, is usually enough. Shedding picks up in spring and autumn, when a few extra sessions with the mitt keep hair off the sofa.
White dogs sunburn easily on the ears, nose and belly, so avoid long spells in midday sun and ask your vet about a pet-safe sunscreen. Check between the toes and along the belly for redness, since the breed is prone to skin irritation. Nails grow quickly on such a heavy dog; trim every 2 to 4 weeks, and brush teeth several times a week.
