How much exercise does a Bull Terrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Bull Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
An hour or so of daily activity, split between walks and vigorous play, suits most adults. Tug games, flirt poles, sturdy balls and pushing a large herding ball around a field all appeal to this breed. Because of their strength and potential reactivity to other dogs, many owners do most running in secure paddocks or on a long line rather than in busy parks.
Boredom is the bigger danger than lack of fitness. An under-occupied Bull Terrier may chew furniture, dig, or start repetitive spinning. Stiffness after rest or reluctance to jump into the car suggests the dog has done too much. The short coat gives little protection, so a jacket helps in cold, wet weather, and white dogs need shade on sunny days.
