Three inherited problems stand out in Ceskys: Scottie cramp (a movement disorder causing episodes of stiffness after excitement), primary lens luxation (an eye condition where the lens slips out of place, with a DNA test available) and patellar luxation. Back problems linked to the long spine also occur. Responsible breeders DNA test for lens luxation, have eyes examined and check knees before breeding.

Keep your Cesky lean, limit jumping and keep up regular eye and dental checks. See a vet if you notice episodes of stiffness or collapse, a painful, red or cloudy eye, squinting, skipping on a back leg, or reluctance to jump or climb. Sudden eye pain or a change in eye appearance needs same-day attention.
