Cesky puppies grow steadily and reach adult size at around 10 to 12 months. A 12-week-old puppy often weighs 3 to 4 kg (7 to 9 lb). Color is the surprise: gray-blue adults are born black, and coffee-colored adults are born chocolate brown, lightening gradually and often not settling until 2 to 3 years.
The long back and short legs mean you should limit jumping off furniture and repeated stair climbing, and use a ramp for the car. Some young Ceskys show episodes of stiffness or an odd, cramped gait after excitement, linked to a condition known as Scottie cramp. If your puppy shows episodes like this, film one on your phone and show your vet.
