Cresteds pick things up quickly and want to please the people they love, but they are sensitive souls. Gentle praise and tiny, soft treats work far better than firm correction. Short, playful sessions keep them engaged, and many enjoy trick training.
House training is the most common complaint, because like many toy breeds they hate going out in the cold and rain. A covered outdoor spot, a strict routine and a jumper on winter mornings all help. Early, gentle socialization with visitors reduces the breed's tendency to be wary of strangers, and gradual alone-time practice eases separation stress.
