Training a Biewer Terrier: what works and what to expect

Biewers are bright and eager to please, but they can be stubborn and easily distracted. Short, positive sessions with small treats work best. Avoid carrying the dog everywhere or letting it get away with behavior you would not accept from a larger dog, as this can lead to small dog syndrome, with barking, snapping or pushiness.

House training can take extra time, because tiny bladders fill quickly and accidents are easy to miss. Frequent trips outside and a consistent routine help. Teach your dog to use ramps or steps for furniture, and practice short periods of being alone from puppyhood to reduce separation stress.
