Shar-Pei puppies are born with dramatic wrinkles that stretch out as the body grows. Most reach adult height at around 10 to 12 months and fill out by 18 months, while the coat and skin settle into their adult form. Litters vary a lot in size, so compare your puppy with its own growth curve rather than with a chart.
The eyelids are the main thing to watch. Heavy skin can roll a lid inward, a condition called entropion, so that lashes rub the eye. In young puppies a vet may place temporary stitches to hold the lids out while the face grows. Squinting, weeping or pawing at an eye in a puppy should be seen by a vet within a day or two, because constant rubbing can damage the eye's surface.
