Puli puppy growth: milestones and weight estimates

Puli puppies arrive with a soft, fluffy coat that shows no hint of cords at all. Physically they reach adult height by about 12 months, and males may keep filling out through the chest until 18 months. The real transformation happens in the coat: somewhere between 9 and 12 months the undercoat starts to mat, and that is the moment cord care has to begin.
During this stage, check the coat several times a week and split developing mats by hand into sections roughly the width of a pencil or finger, working from the tip toward the skin. Miss a few weeks and neighboring clumps join together, and the only fix is cutting. Growing puppies are also very bouncy, so avoid lots of repetitive jumping on hard floors until your vet agrees growth is complete.
