Cockapoo feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Cockapoo.
An 8 kg Cockapoo typically needs about 110 to 150 g of a typical dry food per day, roughly 1 to 1.5 cups, split into two meals. Smaller and larger dogs need proportionally less or more. Both parent breeds love food, and Cockapoos can gain weight easily, especially after neutering.
Long, hairy ears often dangle into the bowl and then drip food and water across the floor. A narrower, deeper water bowl and a smaller-diameter food bowl help keep ears out, and some owners use a snood (a soft fabric tube that holds the ears back) at mealtimes. Wiping ears and beard after eating keeps the coat clean and reduces matting.
Fast eating is common. Slow feeders, snuffle mats and puzzle toys turn meals into brain work, which suits this clever cross. Count treats as part of the daily ration rather than extras.
