Cockapoo grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Cockapoo: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Brush the whole coat three or four times a week, working in sections with a slicker brush, then comb down to the skin with a metal comb. Mats start behind the ears, under the collar or harness, in the armpits and on the legs. If the comb snags, tease the tangle apart with your fingers and a detangling spray rather than pulling it.
Book a professional groom every six to eight weeks for a trim, bath, nail clip, hygiene trim and ear clean. Many owners keep a shorter teddy clip for easier care. Check ears weekly and keep hair around the ear opening tidy, asking your groomer or vet about hair inside the canal. Trim hair around the eyes and between the pads, and at home bathe only with a dog shampoo and conditioner, drying thoroughly afterward.
