Maltipoo feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Maltipoo.
An adult Maltipoo of about 4.5 kg usually needs around 250 to 350 kcal a day, roughly 65 to 90 g of a small-breed dry food (about three quarters of a cup), split into two meals. Very small dogs need less, and larger ones from Miniature Poodle parents need more.
Maltipoos can become picky eaters if offered too many treats or table scraps. Keep a consistent routine, offer the bowl for about 15 minutes and then lift it, and use part of the daily ration for training. A shallow, easy-to-clean bowl suits the small face and keeps the face less soggy. Tear staining around the eyes is common in pale dogs; keeping the face clean and dry helps, and your vet can check for other causes if staining is heavy.
