Czechoslovakian Wolfdog feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog.
Many Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs eat less than their size suggests, and appetite can vary from day to day. A 28 kg (62 lb) active adult commonly needs around 350 to 450 g of dry food a day, about 3.5 to 4.5 cups, but some thrive on less. Adjust by body condition: the waist should be clearly visible and the ribs easy to feel.
Feed in two meals, and rest the dog for about an hour before and after hard exercise, as with most deep-chested breeds. Some individuals guard food or chews, so feed them apart from other pets, avoid taking the bowl away mid-meal, and teach a trade game from puppyhood where giving something up earns something better.
A sturdy, heavy bowl that cannot be flipped or carried off is sensible, since many play with empty dishes. Some owners report sensitive digestion, so change foods gradually over 7 to 10 days.
