Training a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog: what works and what to expect

Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs learn quickly but see little point in repeating the same exercise. Ask for ten sits in a row and many will walk away after three. Short, varied sessions with food rewards and a clear reason for each task work far better than drilled obedience. Harsh methods tend to damage trust and create fearful or defensive dogs.

Socialization is critical. From the day the puppy comes home, arrange calm, positive encounters with different people, dogs, vehicles and places, and continue well past the usual puppy period. Teach being alone gradually and patiently, and consider a canine companion, as many cope far better with another dog in the home.
