This is a slow-maturing breed. Puppies reach most of their height by about 12 months, but they keep filling out in the chest and head until 2 years or later, and many are mentally adolescent until 3. Expect a long teenage phase with testing of boundaries.
Protect developing joints by avoiding forced running on hard surfaces, long bike runs and repeated jumping before about 12 to 18 months. Free play on grass and walks on varied ground are better.
