Dutch Shepherd puppy growth: milestones and weight estimates
How fast a Dutch Shepherd puppy grows, illustrative weight estimates and the limits of predicting adult size.
Puppies grow steadily, reaching roughly 12 to 15 kg (26 to 33 lb) by 4 months and near adult height between 10 and 12 months. The body keeps broadening until 18 to 24 months, and mentally many Dutchies stay adolescent until about 2 years. Short-coated youngsters look lanky for a while; rough-coated ones often look scruffy and unfinished.
The main risk at this stage is doing too much too soon, because the puppy is keen and physically capable. Limit jumping, repetitive ball chasing and running on hard surfaces until about 12 to 14 months, and build sport skills through foundation work on flat ground. Persistent lameness, reluctance to jump into the car, or a youngster that keeps sitting down on walks deserves a vet check.
