How much exercise does an English Toy Spaniel need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities an English Toy Spaniel enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Twenty to forty minutes of gentle activity a day is usually enough, split into short walks and indoor play. Many enjoy sniffing around a garden or park at their own pace and short games with soft toys. They are not built for long hikes or running beside a bike, and their short noses make exertion harder.
Heat is the biggest risk. On warm days walk early or late, keep outings short and indoors provide cool floors and water. Use a harness rather than a collar to protect the throat. Loud or labored breathing, a very dark tongue or collapse mean stop at once, and collapse or blue gums require urgent vet care.
