How much exercise does a Pomeranian need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Pomeranian enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Two short walks adding up to about 30 to 45 minutes, plus indoor games, keep most Pomeranians fit and content. They love sniffing somewhere new, chasing small toys down a hallway, learning tricks and the occasional burst of racing laps around the sofa. Clip the lead to a well-fitted harness rather than a collar, because pressure on the throat is a concern in toy breeds prone to tracheal collapse.
Heat limits a Pom long before stamina does. That dense double coat means a Pom can overheat on a warm afternoon while still looking keen, so walk early or late in summer and bring water. A Pom that lags behind, pants hard with a wide tongue or lies down on the path has had enough. Cold, crisp days are a different story, and most Poms trot through them happily.
