How much exercise does a German Wirehaired Pointer need?

Daily exercise minutes, the activities a German Wirehaired Pointer enjoys and signs of too much or too little.

Ninety minutes or more of daily exercise is the baseline for an adult, with a good share of off-lead running in safe areas, swimming or structured field work. These dogs love rough terrain and water and cope with bad weather far better than many breeds.

An under-exercised Wirehair digs, chews, barks and looks for escape routes. Over-exercise is less common, but watch for sore pads, torn nails and stiffness after long days in the field. Build fitness before hunting season starts, and check for ticks and grass seeds after every outing.
