How much exercise does an Icelandic Sheepdog need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities an Icelandic Sheepdog enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
An adult needs about 60 to 90 minutes of activity each day, and mental work matters as much as mileage. Hiking on varied ground, herding lessons, agility, nosework and trick training all suit the breed. Icelandics are agile rather than fast, built for scrambling up rocky slopes.
Cold weather barely bothers them, but heat does. On warm days limit walks to early morning and evening and provide shade and water. A dog that is barking constantly, pacing or inventing herding games with children or other pets is usually telling you it needs more to do.
